Comparison
FamPlate vs ReciMe: which recipe app fits your family?
Both apps save recipes from social posts and turn plans into grocery lists, so the right pick depends on how your family cooks. By the end of this page you'll know which one fits you — compared row by row against ReciMe's own website, help centre and App Store listing as of October 9, 2026 — including the cases where ReciMe is the better choice.
Choose in four questions
-
Where do your recipes come from?
If nearly everything comes from social media and you save from a computer, ReciMe documents more routes in, including a Chrome extension. Both read photos of cookbook pages and handwritten cards, and FamPlate can also take a recipe by dictation.
-
Who plans the week?
ReciMe's help centre describes a weekly calendar you fill by hand on your phone. FamPlate lets you plan by hand on the web or in the apps, or have AI fill the empty slots around your own picks.
-
Who shares the kitchen?
ReciMe households log into one shared account and can collaborate on cookbooks. FamPlate gives up to four people their own profiles in one kitchen, each with dietary restrictions, a calorie target and a food diary.
-
How do you want to pay?
Both are free to start with a paid upgrade. ReciMe Plus offers a 7-day free trial; FamPlate+ has no trial and starts at €4.99 a month for the whole family.
Where the two apps really differ
Saving recipes is close: both import from social posts, websites, screenshots and pasted text, and the table below shows where each has more routes in. The bigger differences come after saving. ReciMe's help centre describes a weekly calendar filled by hand, on mobile for now. FamPlate plans by hand too, on the web and in the apps, and can also have AI fill the empty slots with up to three of your own recipes a week — see the AI weekly menu planner. The family model differs as well: ReciMe households share one login, while FamPlate gives each of up to four people their own profile inside one kitchen.
Comparing the free plans
The two free plans are metered differently, so compare them against how you cook. ReciMe's free plan counts imports — 5 a week from any source — and keeps meal plans, grocery lists and cookbooks free. FamPlate's free plan counts AI features: 5 recipe captures plus 5 social imports a month, 1 AI week menu and 5 dish swaps a week, and up to 15 recipes for kitchens created since September 16, 2026. Manual recipes, manual planning and the shopping list are free.
If you save lots of recipes every week and plan by hand, ReciMe's free plan goes further. If you save a few recipes a month and want the week planned for you, FamPlate's free plan is the better fit. Full FamPlate limits are on the FamPlate+ page.
Moving recipes from ReciMe to FamPlate
FamPlate can't import a ReciMe export or any other file. To bring recipes over, go back to the original source: paste the post or website link into FamPlate, or photograph the recipe. On the free plan each one counts toward the monthly allowance, so start with the dishes your family actually cooks.
Everything else — the shared book, the week plan, the shopping list — builds up from there. See the recipe saver for every way a recipe gets in.
How we checked
Every ReciMe statement on this page comes from ReciMe's own website, help centre or US App Store listing, read on October 9, 2026 and listed under sources. Where we couldn't find something in their official documentation we say “not found” rather than claim it's missing — features change, and a help centre isn't a full product tour. Prices are from the US App Store on that date and vary by region. We don't quote ratings or review counts for either app.
FamPlate details come from the product itself; current limits and prices are on the FamPlate+ page. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we'll correct it.

When ReciMe is the better choice
ReciMe is the better choice if most of your recipes come from social media and websites and you want the most ways to save them: a Chrome extension, a web app for importing, collaborative cookbooks with custom tags, and recipes you already keep in Paprika, Notes, Google Docs, Notion or Evernote. Its free plan allows 5 imports every week, it offers Grocery Checkout with partner supermarkets and a metric/imperial switch, and it's available in Spanish, German, French and Portuguese. FamPlate fits better if you want AI to plan the week around your own picks and recipes, a shopping list that skips your pantry, separate profiles with dietary restrictions and a food diary for up to four people, the full app in a web browser, or Russian or Hebrew. Everything about ReciMe here comes from its official pages as of 2026-10-09; features change, so check ReciMe's site before you decide.

Questions
Is FamPlate cheaper than ReciMe?
It depends on your region and how you pay. FamPlate+ starts at €4.99 a month (the local store price in the apps), with no free trial. ReciMe's US App Store listing shows ReciMe Plus at US$29.99, US$39.99 and US$59.99 without saying which billing period each covers, and ReciMe offers a 7-day free trial (US App Store, 2026-10-09; prices vary by region). Both have a free plan.
Can I move my recipes from ReciMe to FamPlate?
Not as a file — FamPlate has no import from ReciMe or any other app. Paste the original post or website link, or photograph the recipe. On the free plan each one counts toward the monthly allowance.
Does ReciMe have AI meal planning?
We didn't find AI-generated meal plans in ReciMe's official documentation as of 2026-10-09; its help centre describes a weekly calendar you fill by hand. ReciMe Plus does include an AI assistant that answers recipe questions while you cook.
Which is better for a family?
It depends on how your family shares. ReciMe households log into one shared account and can collaborate on cookbooks. FamPlate gives up to four people their own profiles in one kitchen, each with dietary restrictions, a calorie target and a personal food diary, and one FamPlate+ covers everyone. More in the family meal planner.
Do both work on Android and on a computer?
Both have Android apps. On a computer, ReciMe's web app handles importing, viewing and editing recipes, with meal plans and grocery lists listed as coming soon. FamPlate's website is the full app, including planning and the shopping list; FamPlate has no Mac or Windows desktop app.
